Thanks! I just installed Fora Dictionary and Watchdog. Some apps I find useful: AK Notepad, Brightness widget (why is the brightness setting buried in 3 levels of menus?!), c:geo (for geocaching), and Google Reader.

Screen Filter (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.haxor), one of the un-explained apps listed, allows you to reduce the brightness below the system minimum (by a semitransparent overlay). Very nice for dark rooms, and on an LED screen will actually save battery power, in theory.
